Kelly Robinson was elected to office in 2008 and re-elected in 2012, and serves as the District 2 Commissioner for Douglas County, representing Lithia Springs, Deer Lick, Boundary Waters, Chestnut Log, Factory Shoals, Old Colonial as well as Sweetwater State Park areas. The primary corridors are Thornton Rd, Lee Rd, and Fairburn Rd of the I-20 interchange.
Robinson has consistently believed that Douglas County’s future quality of life can only be increased with a focus on economic development involving innovation, industry and investment as well as housing. Robinson writes and publishes policy papers on various housing and financial topics that extend solutions toward national issues. Robinson serves on the Financial Services Committee for the county overseeing the monthly financial and audit processes and provides thought leadership to his peers on financing issues such as issuance of bonds. He has a centrist view point yet is fiscally conservative and believes does have a role to play in the lives of citizens – albeit a limited one.
Commissioner Robinson possesses 22 years of business experience, currently operating as CEO of Archie Mae, a housing advocacy and capital markets firm. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President of Strategic Pricing at Wachovia within its $4B commercial banking group that encompassed business banking, regional banking, corporate banking, commercial real estate and treasury services. Robinson also sits on the board of a homeless prevention center, Caring for Others, as well as the Bronner Business Institute. He is also a board of director at GA State University and serves as Chair-elect over the Alumni Association’s Finance and Audit Committee.
In addition, Robinson instructs students on Entrepreneurship, Business Analysis and Strategic Management at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University where he also earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (Marketing) and Masters in Management (Strategic Planning). He is writing his first book, and is about to launch a radio and cable series. Robinson is developing and impacting the next generation of leaders: his two sons, Kelly, Jr. (“the Priest”) and Christopher (“the King”).
